On the eve of the semi-finals. we were extremely fortunate to be able to host several Match Officials from the the Women’s Rugby World Cup, for a special Society event in central London.
The evening was kicked off by Andrew MacNeaney, our President, who welcomed our guest and gave some background to the evening. Hannah Everitt, our Deputy President, took over the show with a wonderful Q&A session, with questions from both Hannah and the floor.
It was a fantastic insight into their experiences being part of the Rugby Village, from starting out in the game and finding something that they have a passion for and their journey as a match officials in the World Cup itself.
The officials were: Maggie Cogger-Orr - Referee / AR, Kat Roche - Referee / AR, Dr Rachel Horton - TMO, Quinton Immelman - TMO, Andrew McMenemy - TMO, Alhambra Nievas - World Rugby Women’s High Performance Referee Manager, Wayne Erickson - Former International Test Referee & World Rugby Performance Reviewer & World Rugby Selector, and Andy (performance reviewer) and Mark (physio).
Also in attendance, were some notable former female referees, including Clare Daniels.
We wish the team a successful and enjoyable remainder of the Tournament and would again like to thank everyone for attending and making this such a wonderful event.
