Mini _ Midi Referee Award
This course introduces the new referee to the art of refereeing
the Continuum variations for the under 9 to under 12 age
groups.
The course lasts for 2 to 3 hours.
Entry Level Referee Award
(ELRA)
This is a three stage programme aimed at getting the new referee
on to the field refereeing at the earliest opportunity.
Initially candidates will take Stage 1 & 2, these are run
over two days and comprise of theoretical and practical refereeing
sessions.
The course content includes sessions on Contextual Judgement and
Materiality, Before, During and After the match referee
responsibilities, Practical introduction to the Laws of the Game,
Game Management, Communication and Practical Refereeing.
Sessions will either be classroom based or on the field of play.
Stage 1 and Stage 2 normally last approximately 5 -6 hours
dependent upon the candidates involved.
Stage 3 is normally only completed by those referees wishing to
join the Society and comprises of the candidate refereeing a series
of matches (6) and keeping a log book of the events of each of
those games, highlighting what went well and what did not go so
well. At one of these games someone from the Society will come to
observe the referee and report back the Regional Manager on the
referee's progress. On completion of the logbook the candidate
should return it to the Regional Development Officer for signing
off.
Continuous Referee Development Award
(CRDA)
This is a modular programme aimed at improving the referees
knowledge and understanding of the game. It comprises of 14 modules
including the following :-
- Materiality & Contextual Judgement
- Personal Referee Development Plan
- Understanding the Game
- Communication
- Scrum
- Lineout
- Tackle & Post Tackle
- Maul
- Advantage
- Practical Refereeing Fitness
- Dealing with Coaches
- Discipline
Sessions are normally run throughout the season at Regional
Training Evenings.
Extended Referee Development Award
(ERDA)
This course is designed for those Society Federation Referees
with the potential to reach the South East Group and in due course
the National Panel of Referees.
It consists of 10 modules of which the core modules A and B
together with module 8 (Assistant Referee and Your Role) are
compulsory.
Candidates for this course will be selected and informed of the
initial course date. Thereafter the modules for the course are run
over dates agreed between the course tutors and the candidates.
Referees offered for selection to the National Panel of Referees
will need to show evidence of completion of the compulsory modules
and of commencement of the other modules at the Panel Selection
Conference.
Development Assistant Referee Award (Touch
Judges)
This is a one day course open to members of the Society proposed
by their Regional Managers as suitable candidates.
